8 days have passed so fast! Just in a blink! With my parents in Taiwan for a holiday for the past week, I had stayed over at his place every night.
Guess I will miss his bed and comforter tonight ^___^

My mailbox was filled with congratulatory notes from the global executive team. I was shocked to receive an email from our CEO in Danbury office. All because 2 of the award entries which I have written won at the awards ceremony in Hong Kong and 1 of the award win was the highest honor! We were crowned the relo management company of the year! :)

Nature @ Batu Batu!
I managed to steal a short getaway before my business trip to Hong Kong this coming weekend. Nature is great! During these 3 days, I didn't suffer from any headaches!
Because of the monsoon season, we were the only occupants of the whole entire private island on our second day! Though the price is a bit steep but it's still a very enjoyable holiday!

Our very first Sunday together without disruption of classes...
Queued for 20 minutes at a popular wanton mee store for breakfast;
Took a stroll through the wet market;
Caught a movie in town;
Window-shopped;
Enjoyed the sun and breeze at the Labrador Nature Reserve;
Swam at the NUS Alumni Club;
Tabao dinner and watched tv;
Soaked our feet in warm water... supposedly to help improve blood circulation.
Looking forward to all our future Sundays.

싸웠다!
My mum and I quarrelled really badly just now. She has always been a very difficult lady, one who always has negative thoughts and harps on historical events, particularly those bad stuffs. Because of her nature, I'm brought up in an environment which instils negativity and till to-date, I'm trying my best to see positivism at work, in everything I do and with the people I meet. I don't want to be like my mum.
I know my mum has been silently volcanoing ever since I got attached and true enough, she revealed all the trivia in my opinion things she was unhappy about. Best of all, she even mentioned my US trip to visit the arsehole which happened a few years back. Amazing! She said loads of hurtful things... I'm chasing after my bf and not the other way round?!
Seriously, the love we have for each other is so mutual. What right does she have to judge our love? Just because she's my mum?
Lord, please grant me more patience so I can better communicate with my mum. Amen.
I will be better after a night's sleep. Because each new day brings love, hope and renewed faith.

수업을 다시 시작할까요?
I just received a text from my sec. 3 student.
'Hi teacher, can we start class from next Sunday onwards?'
I nearly fainted when I read her message... I'm still teaching 8 O level students and classes will officially end by 28 October. I have not even taken a break; why would I give up my Sunday for you?
That's the problem with Direct School Admission students.... entering a good school but having difficulties keeping up, resulting in kiasu and kaisi mentality. Students should try to enjoy their school holidays as much as they can. When one ages and starts working, there will be no more such privileges!

Met a uni friend for lunch today... I was supposed to buy her birthday lunch in August but work and travel kept me busy for the past few months. Finally we managed to fix a day for lunch :)
While catching up, she told me her son has recently done a child review and the doctor has confirmed that he's an autistic child. I asked if she's sad? She replied saying, 'As long as he's healthy, I'm happy.' Autism treatment and therapy programs do not come cheap. She mentioned that fees could easily come up to 5k a month...

Happy for my colleague's younger brother who just got married at the Orchard Hotel! Weddings are always special occasions! And he was so sweet to ferry me to the hotel and back home so that I don't have to cab.... I did not even ask for a ride. What will I do without you dearie?

운동 해야 돼!
My evening class was cancelled today and I decided to go for a jog instead of napping before dinner. It's been a long long while since I last jogged. It's a really a test of endurance for me. I only managed to run slightly over 1km...
I must get my stamina back! This year, I hardly had time for exercise because of classes. I'm hoping to take weekly yoga classes and to swim every weekend as well as to jog at least twice a week.
Here's to a fitter me! Hopefully in 3 months' time :)

베이징!
I was in Beijing for work for the past two days. It's my first time in this populous city. It's a hectic business trip and I did not extend my stay because of my classes. The only places I visited were the airport, hotel and office. Will save the sightseeing in this wonderful city next March!

도라에몽!
I was in Hong Kong for work and was very glad that I could see the 100 life-sized Doraemon figures at the Star Ferry! Somehow, Hong Kong has become more crowded and everywhere you see are Chinese visitors.
I was very thankful he flew up over the weekend to accompany me. We enjoyed 'me' time together, something which we could not have done back home since my weekend's always filled with classes.

드디어!
And finally my company mid-year event is over! Being in the High-Po program, I'm chosen to be in the planning committee and over the past 1.5 months, I was loaded with extra work. Though there are 5 of us, but technically, it's just 3 headcount as 2 other ladies just can't work much. It's no joke planning a company event for 200 people. Everything turned out well despite a few minor hiccups and I'm so relieved that I can now focus on my core work responsibilities...
In conjunction with this mid-year event, the APAC Employee Awards 2012 was also held and I was surprised to be 1 of the 3 winners for 'Super Support of the Year'. There were 29 nominees for this award and to win, it's really a dream come true!
Thank Lord for all the good things that came my way recently :) I'm so blessed!

긴 주말!
My first vacation leave, finally applied my very first 2012 leave to enjoy a good long weekend!
This week I don't have many classes as most of my Os students have finished their Maths prelims and being an understanding me, I gave them a break this week to concentrate on their remaining subjects.
I have many plans for this long weekend! Swimming, seeing my physician for a good tui-na session, cleaning my room, and of course not forgetting sleep!

바쁜 8월!
August is a busy month!
August 24 is our company mid-year event and being in the High Po program, I'm nominated to be part of the 5-member planning committee. This means additional work. Anyway, I'm proud to say that the Olympics themed idea was thought by me and VP of Operations gave the go-ahead approval straight away.
August 29 is the start of my APAC roundtable series with Singapore taking the first stop, Hong Kong next and Beijing last. I'm the only person doing all the planning and back-end preparation work.
Not forgetting, it's also school prelims. Just hope I can stay sane and hang in there! 14 more weeks and freedom will be here!

Mid-noon, my big boss walked past my desk and asked me if I was going for lunch. I told him I'm going to meet my ex-student for lunch and I was jokingly telling him I feel old now. And suddenly his face turned serious and he popped the question...
Big boss: "Actually how old are you?"
Me: "I'm xx this year."
Big boss: "Oh... you don't look your age."
Me: "So you mean I look older?"
Big boss: "No you look like you are 23!"
Me (trying hard not to roll my eyes): "Coffee on me then!"
Hmmm.... seems like my big boss has been longing and curious to know my age!

It's lovely to know my efforts have been recognized. The award entry which I had submitted early this year won us a Leading HR Practices award! It's the second award we have won this year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed... hopefully 3 more will be coming our way soon!
