Firstly the world celebrates the royal wedding of Prince Williams and Princess Kate Middleton in London today.
I was shocked to see my office mailbox flooded when I logged in this morning. There were so many congratulatory messages after my boss had sent out a 'On The Move' announcement to the global executive and marketing teams within the 3 regions during EMEA time yesterday evening.
And when I thought I'm finally done with replying all, another round of annoucement was sent locally within the Asia Pacific offices and more emails came in!
Oh well... maybe I really did underestimate myself...

I have just received news of my promotion from my boss this afternoon... It's been a long wait of 4.5 years! Support staff like me is not as lucky as the operations team in the organization, where they get easily promoted within 1-2 years of employment.
Perhaps I was expecting the promotion to come through, so I wasn't that elated when my boss congratulated me. Adding to that, the promotion increment took into consideration of the yearly increment so my salary increase wasn't what I expected it to be. I guess this is partly due to my sideline... I feel that I can easily earn that increment by teaching 1 student.
Anyhow, I'm still grateful! At least I'm doing more work for a bit more money! ^^

This article reminds me of my one and only male boss I was reporting to in my second job. So far to-date, all my bosses are lady bosses. My male boss is from Hong Kong and indeed he's a super PMS and difficult boss to work with! Thankfully I only lasted for slightly over a year...
Upon my Korean classmate's recommendation, I had decided to watch Finding Mr. Destiny 김종욱 찾기 on my flight home from Hong Kong. The lead actress in this movie turns to a love agency to find her first love whom she has met in India. 
Eileen was right. It was a good show and some of the movie dialogues made me think... especially the part about the lead actress who had a habit of not finishing up the last piece of food even though she's still hungry so that she could leave the happy feeling intact. Someone who was afraid of sad endings and final moments and desperately trying ways to avoid them.
The lead actor, on the other hand, was filled with regret of not confessing his feelings to his first love... and eventually lost her to someone else. 'I gave up loving her 내가 그 사람을 끝까지 사랑하지 않은거에요' *Sobs... I gave up loving you too*
The story's ending redefined first love and fated love as the lead actress finally closed the chapter by choosing to move on and starting a new relationship with the lead actor.
Worth a watch!
My office celebrated International Food Day at lunch today and thanks to this celebration, I got to sample some wonderful dishes! 
Foods with a local twist dished up by talented chefs in my company: Dumplings, Quiche, Poor man's Pudding, Mussels, Wang-wang Pizza, Rojak, Sambal Prawns and Apple Crumble.

It's official. I don't get to enjoy waking up late on weekends now. I have just accepted a new student and she's willing to have lessons every Saturday at 9.00am. Sunday starts early for me at 7.00am.
The only consolation is I get to enjoy the afternoons and evenings of Saturday and Sunday... be it a swim, a nap, watching dramas, lazing at home or doing nothing :)
I remembered telling my buddy that I'm still suffering from loss of tuition income this year and she was telling me that God has His plans for me and will give me what He deems suitable. I'm glad with this new student on board, things are better than last year.
I'm indeed blessed!
My niece has some terrible cane marks on her thighs and 1 on finger... Apparently she was caned for running the tap and wasting water at her own house.
A few years back, my sister had wanted to cane my niece at our house for something she had done wrongly and my whole family was trying hard to protect her. I was so affected that I had to call him to calm myself down... I remembered him telling me that his mother has never used any corporal punishment on him or his sisters during their childhood days. I thought that was really different because it's really rare to find someone who hasn't been caned before!
This sets me thinking... will I spare my own children the rod next time too?
