I was speechless after reading a Hong Kong colleague's evaluation. We had a mini roundtable discussion on Wednesday. Due to budget constraints, it was decided we would hold it in the Hong Kong office for a small targeted group of clients.

Is it so difficult to be magical? Even if I dislike working with my internal clients, I would try to be professional and set aside my personal feelings.

God must have seen my perserverance because after 7 months, I finally managed to get him yesterday. He must be cursing and swearing for answering my call -- I had used my house phone instead of mobile to call in the morning instead of night. At least I have ascertained that he's still using the same SG number.

Later that night, I received a text or rather a terrible excuse from him. I was rolling my eyes while reading it. Full of s***. When can the lies stop?

Why on earth did I ever fall in love with such an arse? What's wrong with trusting people you love? After so long, it still hurts.

I was making my credit bill payment at the AXS machine in the evening and while waiting for the Malay lady in front of me to finish her payment, I realized she was struggling and staring at the contest screen for a few seconds. Being helpful me, I told her she can just press the 'exit' button and that's all!

Guess what? She told me off saying 'I was rude and she had the right to the AXS machine!' I was totally caught off-guard! I was merely being helpful and seriously I wasn't even in a rush for time being a Thursday evening with no classes.

So I told her I was just helping her and meant no harm and apologized. I guess she must have had a bad Thursday! 真是好心沒好報!

Since the last school term of 2011, I have decided that I wanted to drop this Indian student although he's going to sit for his O Levels this year. Reason for wanting to discontinue is not because of the student but primarily because of the difficult mother.

I'm supposed to teach just A. Maths but the mother will want me to teach E. Maths whenever the son has test. Besides that, she will request for double lessons as and when, as if I have only one student. No point continuing to teach someone when I'm not in control.

So early this year, when the mother called me to start lesson for the son, I told her I can't continue because my schedule doesnt allow and distance is key factor. They stay in Serangoon North. There was still outstanding fees for 3 classes so I told her to transfer it to my bank account. She was angry of course. Really mad. And being the mean and difficult mother, she held the payment and didn't reply my message.

Since she's so nasty to me, all the more I wanted my fees which were due since last October! So I called her this morning and evening and finally got to speak to her. She told me she was sick and hasn't gone out from her house except to teach. HUH?! What a poor excuse! As expected, she went on scolding me saying I was being unprofessional to discontinue classes with her son etc etc. I feel like telling her off... who's being unprofessional now? You are delaying my fees because you are upset. How professional can that be?

Latest update: I just received a text from her to say that I can go to her house to collect the payment some time next week. Please call before I go. How vague is that???! So self-centered and full of herself *yeeks*

Yesterday was the Taiwan presidential elections and Ma Ying-jeou was re-elected for another 4-year term. I have a friend who works in the presidential office, assisting President Ma and he was also the one who played host when I was in Taipei 4 years back.

Before the elections, I asked if President Ma loses this election, what will he do? He said he will come visit me in Singapore.

When the results were announced in yesterday evening, I sent him a congratulatory text. His reply just made me smile :) Oh yes, it's about time to plan a holiday in Taiwan perhaps.

Today is the release of GCE O Level results. It's been a long while since I have a student who scores a double 1! And it happened today!

I remember he was struggling to pass his maths at the beginning of Seconday 4 and it was only after June that results started showing! I'm glad all our efforts have paid off!

This year, I have a record number of O Level students -- 8! I'm not sure how I will manage but I hope I can!

I was very angry with OCBC Bank yesterday... During lunch, I received a call from the Collection department, telling me that my loan repayment for December did not go through successfully because it fell short of 1 cent. The lady wanted me to pay S$1 to cover the 1 cent shortfall. I told her, the cash deposit machine does not accept a dollar note so she suggested S$10.

I was unhappy because I did not want to pay S$10 for a 1 cent shortfall. Not because I can't afford S$10 but I feel it was silly to pay! Why can't the bank roll 1 cent over to the next month's payment? I have been repaying my loans faithfully every month! But the lady refused.

So at around 3+, I went to the nearest OCBC branch and queued for half hour (peak season with people queuing to change new notes for the Lunar New Year) just to pay the shortfall of 1 cent so that I will not incur late fee charges! Yes, I paid exactly 1 cent! LOL...

Going to complain this to the bank! Damn the system and its rules!

Today is the last day of 2011 and I really thank you Lord for a very blessed year.

Thank you for the promotion I had in April. After a 4.5-year wait, I was lucky to be promoted before the economy slowed down in Q3. The increment in my salary helped to lighten my financial difficulties. I also managed to clear off 80% of the loans I had, holding onto 2 more which will be cleared in half year's time.

Thank you for all the classes and students you have given me. The good word-of-mouth from students and parents ensured I had continual income throughout the year and a packed teaching schedule even through to 2012. I'm also thankful that 2 of my weakest students actually scored A for their year end examinations.

With you Lord, all things are possible. This year is a working year, focusing on getting back financially on track. Thank you for keeping me strong in my weakest moments, when I almost want to give up. You gave me strength to carry on.

I love you Lord. Here's to another good and fruitful year!

Of late, trains have become more and more unreliable. Just last week, SMRT had scored a train delays hatrick -- SMRT 3 Commuters 0. Thankfully I take buses often to work and classes.

This morning, I had to start early at 7.30am for my classes, so I decided to take a cab. Guess what did the cab driver say when I boarded? 'No train service today so you are taking cab?' I just kept silent. #%^^&@!@

On my way home, there was this elderly couple seated behind me. They kept talking about the train delays and checks. Oh man.... the trains is definitely a hot topic here in town!

I think I'm cursed to receive anniversary awards within my organization. When I was supposed to receive my third year anniversary award 2 years back, my company ran out of anniversary gifts and my MD's PA back then decided to conveniently omit me out, so I was not called to receive the award during the company huddle.

Strike II occured yesterday... It's my fifth year with the company and finally, I was called to receive the award and gift from my MD. When I thought all was good, I opened my anniversary letter and noticed my join date was amended in PEN from 14 December to 04. 04 December should be the correct date instead of 14.

The 1 was just conveniently circled to 0. Seriously I felt that was very unprofessional and the best thing was.... it got signed! *faints* Anyway, I brought the letter to the PA and demanded it be changed, re-printed and re-signed.

I got the revised anniversary letter today and guess what? There was a special note written by my MD... Hee what a pleasant surprise!

I have wanted to watch this movie before it's screened in Singapore after hearing good reviews of it on radio... As usual, it's difficult to find a kaki to watch; more so because it's a Chinese movie.

Having a day off today, I decided to go to the nearby GV to catch the noontime screening. Less crowds and I can watch the movie alone without feeling so conscious of being alone. I have never watched a movie alone in my whole life! Anyhow, I was glad I caught this movie! It's hilarious and it has its touching moments.

I met James, a church friend for a brief coffee this evening. I was wandering around and he was waiting for his parents to pick him up for dinner. James and I went through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and were baptised in the same church over 10 years ago.

For 4 years, James and I served in church, helping out in the RCIA. We always address him as Brother James because he dedicates all his time to serving ministries. His family also serves in church.

Over coffee, James told me he has quit MOE and will be officially joining the church next January 9. I was caught a bit off-guard. James is the only child. I know it's not an easy decision but he seems firm on his decision. If he successfully gets ordained as a priest in 8 years' time, he would be 39.

Father, please watch over Brother James and may You grant him the grace and perseverance to follow in the footsteps of Christ Your Son and to serve You, the Church and the whole world. Amen.

My company has a function yet again this coming end month and I was volunteered to be the team lead again. I attended the event briefing last Thursday but because of some deadlines, I have yet to update my team.

This morning, one of the team members wrote an email asking what's the current status and this new colleague, my MD's PA swiftly replied the following which got me a bit pissed...

'Agnes went for the briefing but has yet to arrange a discussion with us. We shall await Agnes to feedback on this. Thanks.'

It's the month of October - a love-hate month.
Hate because it's the final year as well as the 'O' levels exams' month. And Love because yes... monie is strolling in.

Just hope to endure for this month and freedom will be here very soon!

I have 19.5 days of leave remaining for 2011. Bringing forward 5 days, I still have 2 weeks. This leaves me with a bit of dilemma. When should I clear my leave? This year end, I'm not rewarding myself with an overseas holiday. I have set a target and I'm hoping to reach half of what I have loaned my ex by this year end. So forgoing my usual year end holiday will help a bit. Of course I envy my friends and colleagues who have year end travel plans to Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Scotland.. but I have to put my feelings aside.

I have finally decided to let go of what's being loaned. After chasing for several months and not receiving any reply from him, I guess it's really time to let reality sink in that I will not be getting my monie back afterall. It's sad but I will keep reminding myself that monie can always be earned back.

I hope being a good Samaritan will bring me good blessings in return.

I had a distressed bus journey yesterday. I was on my way to my student's house at Upper East Coast and as usual, I took the BusPlus which stopped at fewer stops compared to SBSTransit bus.

I was seated behind this middle-aged woman and both of us were seated by the window. I could see bit of her reflection and what she was doing quite clearly. She was picking her nose. Seriously I wouldn't care much if one was picking his or her nose but this woman was apparently leaving the contents at the window ledge. She was doing this for mere 10 minutes.

I wanted to close my eyes and pretend nothing has happened but I just couldn't... So I offered her a piece of tissue. She took it without a word of thanks and she stopped. Thankfully.

I hope she felt embarrassed.

I haven't been regularly updating my blog ever since I returned from my short holiday end August... Slow engine was barely warmed up and I had to welcome my bosses who were in town first week of September. I was busy attending full day meetings and dinnering with them after work.

My weekend was also burnt. I brought my boss to Orchard, East Coast beach, Universal Studios, Sentosa... all over Singapore! I don't even know how I survived those entertainment amidst my back-to-back classes.

September was a crazy month with 2 roundtable sessions - 1 in Singapore and the other in Shanghai. Because of those meetings, work was backlogged and there was so much logistics to see to for the events. Thankfully it's the school holiday week last week and I managed to cancel my classes to work late.

Although there were quite a few dropouts which I had expected, my event today, despite several hiccups, went well. Thankfully.

Not a bad turnout at the roundtable event today...

I just came back from a wake. My family doctor passed away 2 days ago. She was like a godmother to me. Whenever I was sick and visited her at the clinic, she would always ask me how's things and all... When my life hit a real rough patch last year, she was the one who told me to keep praying and believe in the Lord.

Liver cancer. I didn't know she was sick 10 years ago. At times I felt she did look frail and thin. She had a real bad relapse a month ago and sadly she didn't make it through. The last I saw her was probably before June since then I haven't been sick.

RIP Dr. Cecilia Tan. May the angels of God watch over you.

A friend told me last Friday I seem much happier now... and that he was glad to know I'm such a resilient girl.

It's iDay today in our Singapore office! 14 groups are required to take on a country and each team has to decorate their cubicles according to the country selected as well as to design a team mascot.

My group was assigned Switzerland, since this country produces one of the best quality milk and dairy products, we came up with the idea of dressing up as Swiss milkmaids (thanks to a friend for giving me the idea) and dancing a Swiss dance! Unbelievably, our group came in third for the team performance!

How true when I read this on newspaper today! Online shopping has become a part of my life with my busy teaching schedule and lack of shopping buddies these days.

A friend was asking me the other day when was the last time I really shopped or called a friend for retail therapy? Damn... I can't even recall!

I envy those who can easily call their friends for dates... Maybe I should just stick with my online shopping.

Me: Hey let's watch Larry Crowne this weekend? I got free movie passes for 4 and we can get xx to join us.
Buddy: Not sure about the review though... let's wait for the review before we decide to watch the movie?

A week later... I received an sms which was sent to me by accident. The message read: 'Movie confirmed with xx and xx at xx time. If okay, I will use my UOB card to book got discount.' Sad to know... I wasn't invited.

Me: Hey want to catch up for dinner and drinks this Thursday?
Colleague J: I'm okay... check with colleague H...
Me: Hey free to makan and drink this Thursday? J is okay...
Colleague H: Errr I cant....
Me: So hard to date both of you.
Colleague: This shows we got value!
Me: Does that mean I got none?
Colleague J: You are also busy with classes!
Me: No... you all never knock down a date... I wait until I give up!

Me: Hey have you watched Transformers yet?
Friend: No.
Me: Do you want to watch? Most of my friends had watched it....
Friend: Yes!
Me: So do you want to watch it tomorrow afternoon? My classes will end in the afternoon we can try to catch it at xx.

Friend went dead with no reply for half a day. And he suddenly reappeared and said he can't (obviously cos it's already the next day morning when he replied and clever me already knew the answer...)

Me: So when are you free to catch the movie? (I tried again with a hopeful heart)

Friend went dead for quite a while again... and replied: I can't watch because I'm busy with my house renovations and I need to fly again for my training.

It's me I concluded.
I must be cursed.

Shangri-La is celebrating its 40th birthday so all F&B outlets in the hotel are offering a 40% discount! A friend suggested we should do a luxury dining at Nadaman Japanese restaurant so yeah decided to try it! For the discount, the food is definitely value for money :)

I'm totally drained out now... Had a really tough class just now; was trying to solve some difficult questions. Just can't help wondering why schools set such tough questions when 'O's is not considered that difficult?

Had a bad afternoon too... was thrashing out my roles and responsibilities with my boss; just cant help feeling frustrated on how my role has begun to shrunk...

Celebrated another close colleague's birthday last Friday... we decided to try something new, a restaurant with a nice ambience - Privé at Keppel Bay!

In my opinion, the food served was far much better than the food I had at Morton's. Cost of dinner was quite comparable to Morton's. Lighting wasn't too good so please pardon the photos...

Will definitely revisit Privé again!

I'm OOO at the Marina Bay Sands Expo today and tomorrow for a business conference. This is the first time my company is exhibiting at this conference as we seldom participate in HR tradeshows.

My booth! Looks professionally good in my opinion, for the pathetic amount of budget we had to 'beautify' it.

Caught up with quite a few good old friends including Joyce whom I had not met for a year since she left her previous company.

Besides that, I had my first try at tarot reading. What can I say? It's really spot-on! *sigh*

My first experience watching a play by the park! I didn't study Shakespeare's Macbeth in school but knew that it was one of the few well-known tragedies.

Staged by the Singapore Repertory Theatre at the Fort Canning Park, it's quite a bloodshed performance. The play was quite modernized... guns were used instead of swords and amidst battle scenes, gunshots were actually sounded. I was very impressed by Banquo's ghost coming out of the banquet table scene - so real and shocking!

Hopefully this play is not the last but the first of many to come!

These days, weather is unbearably warm!

This image really puts a smile to my face, despite having a bad day today... Having to chase him for payment and I was being ticked off by him for being harshed with my words, a colleague dismissing a birthday project which I had put in huge efforts to get everything together, not getting paid for my class despite it being the 2nd lesson, and to top it all, my day ended with no dinner because my dear mummy forgot to cook my share.

I was shocked to see my office mailbox flooded when I logged in this morning. There were so many congratulatory messages after my boss had sent out a 'On The Move' announcement to the global executive and marketing teams within the 3 regions during EMEA time yesterday evening.

And when I thought I'm finally done with replying all, another round of annoucement was sent locally within the Asia Pacific offices and more emails came in!

Oh well... maybe I really did underestimate myself...
